A Smalcald Articles come the sum-up of Lutheran philosophical system, written by Martin Luther, which declared the positions in which Lutherans may not concede. This would help as an agenda for a Council using the Roman Catholics, and is typically thought of when Luther's "last will and testament," although Luther did non die when it was existence written. Melanchthon so contributed to this act by having a Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope, which was appended to the Smalcald Articles.

Although a meant Council was never held, a Smalcald Articles were seen as a supplement to the more Confessions of the Lutheran Church & come however utilized now. It is involved in the Book of Concord.
